Zakaria Kibrit

Zakaria Kibrit is a consultant architect, an expert in heritage, a specialist in restoration, a researcher and an author of a number of publications concerning Islamic architecture, having many certificates of appreciation, and winner of the award of the “Arab Architect” from the organization of Arab cities in Qatar 2013. Mr. Kibrit obtained a bachelor degree in Architecture from Beirut Arab University in 1979, a master degree in Arts and Archaeology & PhD in Archaeology- Islamic Architecture from the Lebanese University. Dr. Kibrit has a wide expertise in design and execution of architectural projects and restoration of traditional monuments. He was a consultant expert for Syrian Waqf monuments from 2007 to 2019, and an expert-head of Islamic Archaeology department of the Syrian encyclopedia since 2013.
He entered the academic field as a researcher and Islamic architecture expert in Lebanese American University in 2014, and as a professor in the faculty of architecture of the Lebanese university from 2012 to 2020. Mr. Kibrit is a member of many committees concerning heritage, and an active member in Icomos- Liban. He participated in many conferences and workshops on historical monuments in Beirut, Rabya, Tripoli and Damascus as well as with Unesco in 2016. Dr. Kibrit is trying his best to reawaken the students to the rich values of the Islamic Architecture, to enrich their design Lexicon and to push them to read , compare, practice, analyze and design an architectural project based on the discovered conceptions.
